Laser Pre and Post Care

Please note that we cannot treat you if you:

  • Are pregnant or lactating.
  • Are wearing or have applied fake tan recently.
  • Are using or have used Roaccutane (or any generic thereof) in the past 6-months.
  • If you have been on anti-biotics, cortisone or any other photosensitizing medication, please ensure you have completed your course 2-weeks before your appointment.
  • Are using or have very recently started using the tanning product, Melanotan or similar injectable products. 
  • You have not shaved for Laser Hair reduction. 
  •  

Laser Treatment Pre-Care Advice

  • For Laser Hair reduction & Tattoo removal (if necessary) please shave the area 12-24 hours before your appointment.
  • Remove all fake tan.
  • For Laser Hair reduction, avoid plucking or waxing for 4-weeks before treatment.
  • For Laser Hair reduction, exfoliate daily and keep the skin hydrated.
  • Avoid the sun or UV exposure for a minimum of 7-days prior to your appointment. If you have been sunburnt 2-weeks before your treatment or tanned more than usual please inform your therapist. 
  • Wash off all creams and deodorants on the day of your appointment. 
  • If you are prone to cold sores, please take an oral anti-viral 48-hours before and for 3- days post treatment. Clients with active cold sores will not be treated. 
  • You should not perform any physical activity that increases body temperature or blood pressure within 3-hours before or after treatments. 
  • Avoid chemical pels and other laser procedures in the area to be treated for 2-weeks prior and post laser treatment. 

Laser Treatment Post-Care Advice

  • For Hair reduction clients: hairs will begin to fall out effortlessly after 12-18 days. Please do not wax or pluck regrowth during this time. Do not shave the area until the hair falls out. This can take up to 21-days. 
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure for 3-7 days post treatment. 
  • Avoid heat, including hot tubs, saunas, hot room yoga/pilates etc for 1-2 days. 
  • Redness and perifollicular oedema (rash) are common and resolve with time. 
  • Bruising and swelling are less common but may occur and will resolve with time.
  • Avoid active ingredients to the skin, including but not limited to, tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, AHA’s, BHA’s, astringents etc
  • IPL used to treat hyperpigmentation: it is normal and expected for the pigment to dark, crust over and flake off. This may take 3-7 days.
  • It is critical that a broad spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 50 or higher be used during and ongoing for maintenance.
